Sponsoring a Sanctuary Rabbit
Overview
go to top
When rabbits run out of time at animal shelters, or when shelters cannot handle necessary medical treatments, the Buckeye House Rabbit Society steps in.
The
Buckeye House Rabbit Society believes that ALL rabbits are valuable as individuals, regardless of breed purity, temperament, state of health, or relationship to humans. The Buckeye HRS rescue program involves far more than taking in abandoned rabbits. Rescue also includes taking responsibility for the animal’s maintenance and welfare. The welfare of all rabbits is our primary consideration.
The first goal is to save lives. The next goal is to enrich the lives that have been saved by making and keeping them healthy, then adopting
them into good homes where possible. However, some rabbits may be considered "unadoptable" due to long-term illnesses or high maintenance requirements. They too deserve a good life. These are our
Sanctuary Rabbits and the focus of our sponsorship program at this time.
Sponsorship of a Sanctuary Rabbit is one of the most important and direct ways to help the Buckeye House Rabbit Society.
Sponsorships provide funding for spay/neuter, medical care (where needed), medicine, food, and supplies for a Sanctuary Rabbit.
All rabbits who come through our doors are spayed or neutered, and any physical problems are treated. Although our veterinarians are generous with their discounts and their time, our volume adds up.
Medical care is by far our largest expense.
Here are some of the most common medical expenses we incur:

What does your contribution to the Buckeye House Rabbit Society pay for?
We’re glad you asked. When you make a monetary donation to the Buckeye HRS, you are purchasing necessities and veterinary care for the rabbits in foster homes.
Hay, greens, litter, housing, transportation, general supplies, and veterinary care comprise a large part of fostering expenses.
You may deduct your contributions to us the same as you would for other public charities. We are a tax-exempt animal welfare organization.
The
Buckeye House Rabbit Society is a an all-volunteer, federally-recognized, nonprofit organization. We find permanent, loving homes for abandoned pet rabbits and provide the public with information on all aspects of companion rabbit care. You are visiting us at
